Welcome to my list of psychological tricks that will make him miss you.
If you can feel the man you desire pulling away, these tips will help inspire him to come back into your life.
In my role as a life coach, I am often helping clients build stronger relationships with those closest to them.
That’s why I’m excited to share this guide with you.
Let’s dive in.
Make Him Miss You When He Pulls Away
This guide is about how to make a guy miss you when he pulls away.
If you’re in a happy relationship and often spending time together, there’s no need to play any of these psychological tricks on him.
If you play mind games in a healthy relationship, it might actually put a man off because he will realize you’re showing unnecessary signs of insecurity.
In fact, I’d recommend you only use most of this emotional manipulation as a last resort when this guy appears to have lost interest.
In any other situation, your best shot is to treat him well and make your affection clear for him. That’s the best way to excite a man in the first place and to keep his interest. Typically, men love women who are honest about their attraction.
When the relationship is going well, you only ever need to be your true self. It’s only when you do something to mess up your relationship that you might need to play dirty to regain his attention.
Does Absence Make A Man Miss You?
When you play hard to get, it can make a guy miss you more than if you’re always trying to contact him. It’s called giving him the space to miss you. We can only miss people who are distant at some point.
If you’re always bombarding a man with phone calls and text messages, he’ll feel there’s no rush to get in contact, meet up again or progress the relationship – because you’ll probably always be there for him. When a man feels like this, that’s often when you’ll sense him pullling away.
On the other hand, it’s human nature to value things more when they’re difficult to obtain. So, your absence could make you more valuable in a man’s eyes, as well as making him miss you more.
When Does A Man Start To Miss You?
On the other hand, when it feels like you’re slipping away yourself, that is usually when he’ll start missing you – because you’ve created the space for him to feel your absence.
With that said, this only works if he liked you a lot in the first place (and even then, it might not if he has found someone he likes more than you).
That’s why I said your best bet to attract a man is to treat him really well in the first place.
Do this properly (while making sure not to overwhelm him with attention) and you’ll have no need to do anything else to make him miss you at all.
21 Psychological Tricks That Will Make Him Miss You
1. Stop Reaching Out To Him
To create the space for him to miss you, stop texting and calling him for a while. He should be the next one to reach out to you.
2. Focus On Your Own Life So You Stop Thinking About Him
The best way to stop thinking about this guy is to keep active and live your best life without him. This is more for your own mental health than to actively make him miss you.
With that said, when you’ve been enjoying your life without him, this will make it easier to interact casually in a non-desperate way with this guy in future.
3. Make Use Of Social Media
When you’re out having a great time with your friends, find a few moments to post pictures and videos for your social media accounts. If he follows these, he may spot you having a great time and this could give him a healthy dose of FOMO (fear of missing out).
4. This Is A Great Time For A Glow-Up
Maybe you’ll invest in a haircut, some new make-up or a new outfit. Perhaps you’ll start sculpting a new body in the gym. Could it be all of the above?
It’s great to do this for your own confidence, but it’s also worth mentioning that men are visual creatures and he’ll miss you more if he notices you look better.
5. Make Use Of Filters
Since you’re going to be posting highlights of your life without this guy on social media, you might as well make use of the filters to enhance your appearance ever-so-slightly.
On a logical level, he may realise you’re using filters, but it’ll still grab his attention and make him miss you on an emotional level.
6. Level Up In Other Areas Of Life
Men aren’t just interested in your appearance, honestly.
If he spots or hears that you’ve been improving other areas of your life, this could motivate him to want to spend more time with you too.
7. Date Other Guys
This can help cure the desperation for your original crush that probably helped to put him off in the first place.
Post a subtle picture of your date on social media (not making it too obvious it’s a date) and this could fast-track him into texting you back, due to fear of losing you
8. Talk To Your Mutual Friends So He’ll Realize How Great You’re Doing Without Him
If you want to make sure information about how much fun you’re having reaches this guy, tell your mutual friends about it. If one of these people is a close friend of yours, they’ll make sure the info reaches him.
9. Take Your Time Messaging Him
When this guy reaches out to you, don’t message him back straight away. This is a common mistake that many women tend to make which leads them to look too desperate. By waiting a few hours to message him back, you come across as less available, which is what you need to make a man miss you.
In an ideal world, you will actually be too busy having all the fun in the world to immediately notice his message.
10. Reach Out When He’s Likely To Be Free
If you message him at a time he’s likely to be bored and unoccupied, you increase the odds of this guy messaging you back quickly. Try to avoid messaging him when he’s likely to be out partying or (even worse) on a date with another woman.
11. Send Him A ‘Ping Text’
A ‘ping text’ is a fun message that doesn’t ask a question. Perhaps you send him a funny update from your life or a story that reminded you of him, for example.
These types of messages are named after the ‘pings’ that computer hardware sends to software to check it’s still running.
12. Keep Your Messages Short And Sweet
This is another psychological trick which makes you look less bothered about him, creating space for him to miss you. The more words and messages you send, the more invested you look in your relationship, which isn’t great as you’re supposed to be playing hard to get at this point.
13. Use Callback Humour
Callback humour involves jokes that remind him of previous experiences with you. If you can bring him back to good memories where you two were getting on, that’s going to help to make him remember what a good relationship you had and inspire him to want to spend time with you again.
14. Don’t Mention That He’s Been Quiet Lately
To make him miss you, it’s better if he thinks you’ve barely noticed his absence.
If you’re fairly sure what it was you did to put him off initially, you can apologize for this and explain your behavior. This will make him less worried about the same problem popping if you hang out again. This could make a rekindled relationship stronger in his eyes.
16. Keep It 100% Positive
This isn’t a time to be blaming him for something or taking digs at his personality. At this time, you need to concentrate on making him miss you, so it’s best to only be talking about positive topics.
17. Don’t Mention A Serious Relationship
It doesn’t matter if this is what you want. Now isn’t the time to mention your desire for a serious relationship.
While you’re trying to make him miss you, focus purely on fun and flirting.
No good salesman focuses on securing a long-term commitment while the customer is unsure about even remaining in contact.
18. Give Him Something Of Yours
Give him something of yours that isn’t too expensive, but maybe has a lot of sentimental value to you. Perhaps it’s your favorite sweater, favorite shirt or t-shirt. Bonus points if it has your signature scent on it.
Maybe it’s something you occasionally need for your job. You can ‘accidentally’ leave it at his house, if giving it to him makes no sense.
This is playing the long game, as you’ll need to do it before he pulls you away.
This doesn’t just give you a decent excuse to see him again if he cuts off all contact, it also reminds him of you.
Once it’s clear you’ve rebuilt a rapport, don’t be afraid to flirt with him. The more you can turn him on, the harder he’ll find it to resist meeting you in-person. You can ramp up the flirting even more with physical contact in-person, which can do a lot to make a man realize how much he missed a woman.
I have a great guide on activating a man’s ‘Hero Instinct’, which is based on an idea created by relationship expert James Bauer. This Hero Instinct guide is packed with great ideas to ensure he’ll miss you when you’re gone, so make sure to read it after you’re done with this one.
20. It’s Not Guaranteed That He’ll Miss You, So Don’t Wait Around
If you’ve followed all these steps and he remains distant or unresponsive, the best move is to move on and start talking with other guys. This might not bring him back, but continuing to bombard him with attention is even less likely to do that. It’s not great for your self-esteem to keep chasing a man who doesn’t want you either.
21. How To Make Him Miss You Psychology Long Distance
Long distance relationships are different to a man pulling away from you voluntarily.
In a long distance relationship, it’s actually better to give your man more attention, because you need to replace the lack of in-person time and physical intimacy with something.
If you go cold during a long-distance relationship, you’re more likely to drive your boyfriend into the arms of other women.

These psychological tricks aren’t guaranteed to work, but they present your best shot at inspiring a man to miss you.
Ultimately, the most important factor to consider is whether he’s found another woman he likes better, or if he’s attractive enough to seduce most women in the dating pool. In either of these cases, he’ll most likely not miss you regardless of what you do.
