#4 Career Transition Coaching vs. Career Coaching

Career coaching is a solution-based approach designed to help people make the right career decisions. It applies to career management in general.

Career transition coaching is a branch of career coaching focused on helping professionals in shifting to another line of work. Its goal is to pave the way for smooth career transitions.

#5 Who Should Avail of Career Transition Coaching?

Most people think that this is only for people who are planning to shift to another career. Aside from these people, other professionals can also enjoy this type of life coaching. They are those:

–   People who have the mindset of not being enough for a new position or job.

–   People who are being promoted to a leadership position in their companies.

–   Professionals who will relocate to another area or country.

–   Executives who are moving to a new company due to redundancy.

–   Employees who are returning to work after a long career break for study, health, or family reasons.

–   Executives who are going to leave work because of retirement.

#6 How to Become a Career Transition Coach?

To be honest, anyone can claim to be a transition coach. These days, it is easy for all people to create a website and market their coaching services to other people.

But if you’re committed to helping professionals with their career transitions, you should equip yourself with the right knowledge and expertise. The only way to do that is to sign up and take a career coach program.

Please keep in mind that not all transition coaching courses will provide you the level of training you need to become a great coach. This is why you must choose the program well.

#7 What are the Best Coach Certification Programs

To help you determine which courses to take, I have also included a list of the Best Coaching Certification Programs (ICF Accredited)

You see, the government does not regulate the coaching industry. These organizations regulate the quality of career coach services.

There are many such organizations today. The industry recognizes the International Coach Federation as one of the best organizations that accredits coach training courses. In the coaching industry, ICF accreditation means that the course has high quality.

#8 How much is the Career Transition Coach Salary?

This is the biggest question of aspiring coaches. To be honest, a career transition coach has no fixed monthly salary since they get paid only when they have a client. A coach is like a freelancer who only gets paid when they provide services and doesn’t have any monthly retainer fees.

Since they charge hourly rates, I will talk about how much their hourly rate is. Sadly, there are no in-depth statistics about the rates of a career change coach. Because of this, I have based the rates on the fees of general career coaches.

Based on the rates of 50 career coaches from Canada, US, and the UK, the average hourly rate of a career coach is $207 per hour. Some coaches charge as low as $75 and as high as $497.

Keep in mind that the rates may vary depending on the type of service the coach offers. It will also depend on their location. Coaches in bigger cities charge higher than the ones in smaller towns. Their credentials and reputation will also have an impact on their rates.
